9.1 Election of the Director-General of the World Health Organization: report of the working group

The working group scheduled its second meeting for 21–24 November in order to complete its work. A report on the outcome of its deliberations will be presented to the Board.

9.2 Membership of the Independent Expert Oversight Advisory Committee

The paper outlines options for the renewal of the terms of office of two of the members of the Independent Expert Oversight Advisory Committee. The Board is requested to discuss the arrangements outlined and decide on renewal.

9.3 Reports of committees of the Executive Board

• Standing Committee on Nongovernmental Organizations

During its session the Board will receive the report of the Standing Committee on Nongovernmental Organizations, which contains, inter alia, the Committee’s recommendations on requests from organizations for admission into official relations with WHO, the review of nongovernmental organizations in provisional official relations, and the review of collaboration between WHO and one third of the organizations in official relations during the period 2009–2011. The report also contains the views of the Standing Committee on the participation of nongovernmental organizations in intergovernmental meetings.

• Foundations and awards

The Board will consider the reports of the selection panels for the following prizes to be awarded in 2012: the Ihsan Dogramaci Family Health Foundation Prize, the Sasakawa Health Prize, the United Arab Emirates Health Foundation Prize, the State of Kuwait Prize for Research in Health Promotion, and the Dr Lee Jong-wook Memorial Prize for Public Health. The Board is invited to approve the report of the Dr A.T. Shousha Foundation Committee.
