Gender analysis helps to promote equality between men and women as an essential component of sustainable development, economic stability, social justice, peace and security.

We recognise WHO's achievements in integrating gender analysis and actions into the work of WHO but there is still much to be done.  It appears that there has been a decrease in the number of women employed in the National professional officer category and there is a continued under representation of women at higher professional grade levels.

We therefore urge the WHO to provide a more gender friendly environment, to keep in view the issue of sexual harassment at the work place in addition to the implementation of the strategic directions already adopted. We also recommend the UN Women continues to promote gender budgeting.
